Kohler

Steve and Dave decided to add a new route to the Humpday repertoire: the Kohler Mesa Loop. We hiked up behind NOAA (the Skaggs Building) to the Kohler Trail, connected with the Mesa Trail going south to the Skunk Canyon Trail, and back to the car. Round trip 1.5 hours. A pleasant hike, moderate difficulty.

The forest is relatively sparse on Kohler Mesa; the intrepid explorers examined several trees and decided they were ponderosa and lodgepole pines.

After the hike, Steve and Dave made a rare visit to east Pearl Street for dinner at that sports bar, you know. The server was slow, the food was adequate. Dessert at Borders was no better. We need to find some good post-Hump eateries on the east end. Maybe we'll try Sunflower next week.

Dave, being a clock expert, took great interest in a new Zen Clock store on Pearl Street. A Zen clock has a "progressive alarm" - a quiet chime that slowly gets louder, so as not to, uh, alarm you. It's supposed to be a soothing, gentle wake-up. Dave was amused. Steve pondered a zen ringtone for mobile phones, or a chanting monks ringtone, or something. Mouth music for your phone.
